| Hello, my name is Judy Stakee and I am known throughout the industry as the Champion of the Artist and Songwriter. I have been developing and managing talent for the last 30 years in the Music Industry. I believe the most important part of the process for building a career as an artist and a songwriter is to have a strong emphasis on development. It is my philosophy that you will have to continually create great songs to be successful. It is my intention to uphold my title as "The Champion" and to help all artists and songwriters to realize their dreams.
Five years ago I noticed a change in the music industry. Less money was being spent on the development of new artists and songwriters. The money that was traditionally spent on the nurturing of new talent was now going to the company's bottom line. Consequently, the creative process suffered for many artists. This trend only got worse until finally there was no money for any new artists that were not already bringing in an income. So much talent has been lost due to these new policies. Realizing that there is a need for my experience and wisdom, The Judy Stakee Company was born. I am very excited to offer a place where artists can grow, realize their potential, and write great music. Because every artist is unique and requires different tools, my approach to each artist is unique as well. The Judy Stakee Company co-creates a plan with each individual that adheres to their specific needs and guides them to fulfill their potential. So what do I do? Just about everything! The development process can be fulfilled in many ways. I develop songwriters by helping to improve writing skills. I offer weekly one-on-one sessions where we spend time analyzing and critiquing songs, reviewing lyrics and melodies, and discovering who you are and what you want to say. I also assign exercises that will challenge you to evolve. There are 2 phases to your career, Artist Development and Product Development. What I have come to know is that without the first, there is no second. Your career starts with a song! This is your foundation. Make sure it's the right one. To begin with, I create a safe environment for artists where they become part of a community that inspires teamwork and communication. I insist on professionalism through accountability, mutual trust, and respect. It will take dedication, discipline, and determination on your part as I guide you through your process; advising, inspiring and nurturing you the entire way. To be the best artist you can be is not limited to writing songs. I advise a whole world approach to yourself and your music. I know the best teachers and classes to take in the various fields of voice training, acting and dance lessons, writing classes, yoga, exercise and overall health. I feel it is very important to expose you to other art forms for the purpose of inspiration and fun! I use movies, books, museums, musical shows, and photography as tools to show you the many faces of art and creativity. While you are immersed in the writing process, I will help you gain experience in the workings of a studio, demo singing, performing at open mikes and shows, and putting a band together. When the time is right, I will advise you on image, styling, photographs, and video content. Your greatness will be realized through gaining personal awareness, identifying your goals, creating ideas and intentions to help you think outside the box, and realizing your potential to evolve creatively. I produce workshops that empower the writer and challenge you to evolve in a short amount of time. The workshops consist of mentoring from me, co-writing with each other, guest speakers, exercises and tools to improve your skills, and we critique and analyze songs. I offer three different programs: a six week program where we meet once a week; a one day intensive; and a week long "sleep away" camp. These workshops can also be custom designed to meet your specific needs. An added bonus, I help you set up systems to facilitate your art! I advise you specifically on in-house operating equipment and tools for this industry (computers/studios/equipment). I will also guide you on any other administrative needs including registrations for ASCAP/BMI/NARAS/CMA/LOCAL47/AFTRA. Once your voice and songs are to a level we all believe is marketable, the next stage begins. I will be Executive Producing your EP/CD and putting together a great team (producer, engineer, musicians etc...) to facilitate the creation of your album. This also creates more opportunities for you. Your CD can be sold on iTunes, at your live shows, pitched for TV and Film syncs, pitched for record/publishing deals, and acts as a great calling card for who you are and what you do." When you're ready to release your product I will help you either sign with an already existing team at a "record company" or we can create your own. With over 30 years experience in this business, I have excellent relationships with the A&R community and record labels. I can help secure you a deal or help you hire your own Marketing Director, if you want to take a more independent approach. I make any necessary introductions and help you to develop relationships with songwriters, producers, A&R executives, managers, publishers, lawyers, agents, and anyone else you would need. I help secure record, publishing, and/or distribution deals. I will help you to create your team and guide you on how to interact with them. I offer personal coaching for specific meetings and events, teach you how to network, and help you solve problems! Development has no end. I am here to make sure you are writing the best songs you can for the rest of your career. It is my intention for my vision to become the new industry standard. We must put time and energy into development and never forget that a song says everything. The Judy Stakee Co. offers management, personal and business consultation, and workshops. |
